Sefton Budget savings.........

I suggested last year that one of the ways Sefton could cut back on its spending would be to look at the number of Councillors. At present there are 66. If the Boundary Commission agreed that we could move to 2 member wards that would save in the region of a quarter of a million pounds. I know from members of the public they want us to look at this sort of option.

I also asked the Council last year to reduce the allowances paid to top councillors.

When you look at some of the reductions that are being proposed surely it is time that these proposals were taken seriuosly. I know it will not soleve all the problems, but at least the public would know that councillors taking 'a hit'.
