floundering in the shallow end

We are bemused. It is hard to fathom any logic to the behavoir of our Tory leaders on Sefton Council There are lots of possibilities....well make your own mind up.? In recent days they have denied they voted against my amendment on Southport having closer links with Lancashire. It was a little foolish to do so as they demanded their opposition was recorded-as the minutes show! Nor was there any doubt what we were voting on, the chief Exec read out the motion and carefully explained the implications (at the time I thought he was treating us if we were very slow children). Next came the dispute with the Vodaphone mast recorded by Peter Hough below where they seem to have got hold of the wrong end of the stick again, before that we were 'gobsmacked' at the last area committee when one of them insisted that the minutes were changed(despite the fact that many of us clearly recalled her saying the lines she was pestering the committee clerk to remove) and it goes on.
Now we have the issue of the market. I am in some difficulty over this issue as it is a confidential matter. As you see that has not prevented Brenda Porter commenting on it. ( Which is little hypocritical given the way the Parry/ Porter Tory leadership have angrily accused other councillors of breaking these rules-without once producing any evidence that would 'stand up') Now we have official confirmation from the council in the form of a statement issued today and reprinted below confirming the true position.
The most cruel thing here is the number of genuine people who have been mislead. In addition I guess the traders of Wesley Street and Cambridge Walks have been amazed to learn that the council had £1.4m to spend on such projects because a very respectable arguments could be advanced for them to receive such investment. They haven't despite Cllr David Pearson's consistent and informed advocacy on their behalf.
Anyway judge for yourself. Below is an extract(with a link to the full statement-and if it disappears off Brenda's website we have copies) which states that 'the authority is going to fund the refurbishment programme estimated at £1.4m ' Please compare that with the official statement below. And by the way do you detect a pattern in the Tory leadership's behavoir?

' it has been agreed it will remain at its current location with an authority funded refurbishment programme estimated at £1.4 million. '
And if you don't believe me check for yourself:

Humpty Dumpty had an explanation for such behavoir.

When I use a word,' Humpty Dumpty said in rather a scornful tone, `it means just what I choose it to mean -- neither more nor less.'
`The question is,' said Alice, `whether you can make words mean so many different things.'
